The Rexcelsior!

The Rexcelsior!, set number 70839, was released in 2019 as part of the promotional tie-in for The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part. Designed to replicate the massive, dinosaur-shaped spaceship piloted by the character Rex Dangervest, the set reflects the film's shift toward more complex, militarized aesthetics compared to the whimsy of the original movie. The design team aimed to capture the imposing scale of the ship while incorporating a functional interior, resulting in a build that stands out for its unique silhouette and distinct color palette of dark blue and grey.

Upon its release, the set was noted by the building community for its technical construction, particularly the intricate assembly required for the ship's head and the integrated interior play spaces. It serves as a narrative centerpiece of the movie's second act, representing the protagonist's transformation into a rugged hero. Because of its specific ties to the film's plot and its sheer physical size, it quickly became a recognized piece within the broader lineup of Lego Movie 2 merchandise, catering primarily to collectors interested in the expansive scale and complex geometry of film-accurate builds.
