Where it came from
The LEGO Star Wars TIE Interceptor, set 912067-1, was released as a promotional polybag item designed to capture the distinct, angular silhouette of the Imperial starfighter first introduced in the film Return of the Jedi. As part of the broader Star Wars product line, this miniaturized model focuses on the iconic 'bent-wing' design that differentiates the Interceptor from the standard TIE fighter, emphasizing its role as a high-speed, lethal addition to the Imperial fleet.
The design of this specific set prioritizes portability and efficient part usage to replicate the ship's complex geometry at a small scale. While LEGO has produced various iterations of the TIE Interceptor over the decades, this particular polybag release was intended as an accessible, bite-sized entry point for fans, often distributed through promotional campaigns or magazine inserts. It reflects the company's long-standing effort to provide recognizable spacecraft builds that remain functional and displayable despite their limited piece count.
