Where it came from
The LEGO Star Wars TIE Striker (set 912056-1) was released in 2020 as part of the long-running official LEGO Star Wars Magazine series published by Immediate Media. Designed as a micro-scale promotional polybag, it serves as a miniaturized homage to the specialized TIE/sk striker craft first introduced in the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. This version utilizes a minimalist assembly of standard bricks to replicate the distinct elongated solar array wings and central cockpit pod characteristic of the film's atmospheric assault fighter.
The design philosophy for this micro-build focuses on iconic silhouette recognition within a limited piece count, a hallmark of the magazine's monthly gift offerings. Because these sets are produced for a mass-market youth audience as magazine supplements, they are intended to be accessible, entry-level collectibles. While the original TIE Striker design was praised for its unique shift in Imperial starfighter aesthetics, this specific scaled-down iteration is valued primarily as a functional desktop display piece for completists of the Star Wars micro-build collection.
