Where it came from
The Tri-Wheeled Tyrax was released in 1993 as part of the short-lived LEGO Unitron theme. Designed as a Space-themed set, it reflected the brand's pivot toward more aggressive, utilitarian sci-fi aesthetics in the mid-nineties. The set was created to serve as a mobile scouting vehicle, emphasizing modularity and the integration of specialized equipment designed for deep-space exploration.
The design of the Tyrax is characterized by its distinct three-wheel configuration and the use of a vibrant color palette featuring neon-translucent cockpit elements. While the Unitron theme itself was only produced for a brief period, the Tyrax remains a notable example of the era's focus on heavy-duty construction vehicles. It is remembered by enthusiasts for its unique silhouette, which stood apart from the more traditional, sleek spacecraft designs common in previous Space collections.
