Where it came from
The Tribute to Galileo Galilei set was released by LEGO in 2023 as a promotional gift-with-purchase following its success as a winning entry in the LEGO Ideas platform. It was designed by fan creator Firecracker_, who conceptualized the model to celebrate the Italian astronomer’s pioneering work in heliocentrism and his use of the telescope to observe the moons of Jupiter.
The set depicts Galileo in his study, featuring a rotating heliocentric model and a buildable telescope mounted on a detailed base. The design was intended to serve as both an educational tribute to scientific history and a sophisticated desk display, garnering positive feedback from the fan community for its thoughtful use of parts to represent historical scientific instruments within a compact scale.
