Where it came from
The Trotting Lantern, released as part of the 2025 Lunar New Year collection under set number 80116-1, was designed to celebrate the Year of the Snake. This set continues the tradition of creating culturally significant display pieces that honor traditional Chinese aesthetics through a modern building system, blending seasonal symbolism with intricate decorative elements.
The design emphasizes a stylized, serpentine motif integrated into the lantern's structure, reflecting the transition into the Year of the Snake. Designers utilized a palette of vibrant reds and golds to evoke a festive atmosphere, aiming to balance the structural challenges of a functional lantern design with the detailed, display-oriented aesthetic that has defined recent additions to this seasonal range.
