Released in 1977 as one of the inaugural sets of the LEGO Technic line, then known as 'Expert Builder', this set served as a foundational introduction to the system's mechanical capabilities. It was developed to showcase the potential of the new pin-and-beam construction method, which allowed for more robust and complex builds than standard bricks could provide.
