Where it came from
Released in 2008 as part of the LEGO Star Wars accessory line, this bag charm was designed to offer fans a functional way to display their interest in the franchise outside of traditional building sets. It features a miniature rendition of Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced x1, a vessel iconic for its unique bent-wing design, which first appeared in the climactic trench run of the 1977 film A New Hope.
The charm was produced during a period when the LEGO Group was expanding its peripheral merchandise to include stationery, keychains, and bag tags. While the design is modest, it captures the aggressive silhouette of the starfighter with printed details, reflecting the company’s efforts to distill complex cinematic vehicles into durable, small-scale accessories that appealed to both children and adult collectors.
