Where it came from
The LEGO Valentine's Bear, set number 40379, was released in early 2020 as a seasonal promotional item. It was designed to coincide with the Valentine’s Day holiday, offering a buildable, display-oriented model that departed from the traditional minifigure-centric sets of the time. The set captures a stylized teddy bear holding a small red heart, leaning into the aesthetic of seasonal gift-giving that LEGO frequently explored through its holiday-themed small-box releases.
The design prioritizes a charming, rounded silhouette through the use of standard brick elements rather than specialized molds. By focusing on a minimalist but recognizable form, the designers created a project accessible to builders of all skill levels. Upon its release, it was well-received by the collector community as an affordable and thoughtful seasonal decoration, fitting into a long tradition of LEGO holiday-themed promotional sets that emphasize accessibility and festive charm.
