Where it came from
Volectro was released in 2014 as part of the first series of LEGO Mixels, a collaborative franchise between The LEGO Group and Cartoon Network. These figures were designed to be small, buildable characters that could be combined with others from the same tribe to create larger models, reflecting a focus on modularity and creative experimentation within the small-scale set market.
The character design represents the Electroids tribe, characterized by a vibrant yellow and black color scheme with jagged, lightning-inspired features. The design team sought to capture a chaotic, energetic aesthetic that resonated with the frenetic animation style of the associated Cartoon Network shorts. Upon release, the series was well-received for its unique personality-driven builds and accessibility as an entry-level collectible line.
