Where it came from
The LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 Curriculum Pack was released to accompany the WeDo 2.0 robotics core set, a platform designed specifically for primary school students to explore STEM concepts through hands-on construction and programming. Developed by LEGO Education, the initiative aimed to bridge the gap between physical building and digital literacy, allowing students to program their models using a simplified, drag-and-drop interface. This curriculum pack provided educators with guided projects and lesson plans that aligned with international standards, helping teachers integrate robotics into science and mathematics classrooms.
The pedagogical design behind the pack emphasizes inquiry-based learning, encouraging students to solve open-ended problems rather than merely following step-by-step instructions. The visual design of the materials is clean and intuitive, reflecting LEGO's long-standing philosophy of playful learning. Upon its release, the platform was well-received by the educational community for its accessibility and ability to foster collaborative engineering skills in younger children, serving as a foundational bridge between simpler building toys and more complex platforms like LEGO MINDSTORMS.
