Where it came from
The Weetabix Windmill, part of the WEETABIX2-1 series, was produced in the late 1970s as a promotional mail-away item or cereal box insert. These small, plastic construction sets were designed to appeal to children, encouraging them to collect multiple pieces to build a larger tabletop scene, reflecting the popular mid-century trend of using branded toys to foster brand loyalty during breakfast hours.
The design was characteristic of the era's emphasis on snap-together plastic components, prioritizing simple assembly and bright, primary-colored aesthetics. While the specific designer remains uncredited in public archives, the series was well-received by the target demographic at the time, becoming a nostalgic touchstone for British collectors who grew up during the peak of cereal box promotional culture.
