Where it came from
Bulk Up originated as an uncommon card in the Onslaught expansion of Magic: The Gathering, released in 2002. Designed as a sorcery within the red color pie, the card was intended to provide a functional combat trick for players, allowing them to temporarily increase a creature's power and toughness while granting it trample. It reflects the mechanical emphasis on creature-based aggression and the tribal themes prominent in the Onslaught block.
The card was later included in 'The List', a curated selection of reprints integrated into Set Boosters starting with Zendikar Rising.
