Concealing Curtains // Revealing Eye was released in 2022 as part of the Innistrad: Double Feature set, a specialty expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. This set was designed as a curated compilation of cards from the previous year’s two Innistrad-themed expansions, Innistrad: Midnight Hunt and Innistrad: Crimson Vow. It was conceptualized to celebrate the gothic horror aesthetic of the plane by applying a unique, high-contrast black-and-white silver screen treatment to the card illustrations, evoking the classic horror cinema style of the 1930s and 1940s.

The original card design debuted in Innistrad: Crimson Vow, featuring art by Donato Giancola. The design team sought to capture the unsettling, transformative nature of the block's double-faced cards, which flip to reveal a more powerful or sinister backside. In the Double Feature version, the monochromatic palette shifts the focus from the saturated color identity of the original to the interplay of light and shadow, highlighting the creature’s eerie, shifting form and its thematic connection to the pervasive, mysterious darkness central to the Innistrad narrative.
