Deanna Troi, Psychic Counsel

The Deanna Troi, Psychic Counsel card, numbered 499, is a notable entry in the extensive Star Trek trading card ecosystem. Released during the height of Star Trek: The Next Generation’s syndication dominance, these cards were produced to satisfy a burgeoning market of collectors who sought to catalog the crew of the USS Enterprise-D. This specific card focuses on the empathic nature of the ship’s counselor, capturing her role as a bridge between human diplomacy and Betazoid intuition.

The visual design of the card leans into the classic aesthetic of 1990s television tie-in merchandise, utilizing high-resolution publicity stills that emphasize the character's signature professional attire. The production team aimed to evoke the thoughtful, soft-spoken demeanor Marina Sirtis brought to the role, prioritizing a serene portrayal that contrasted with the more tactical cards found elsewhere in the set. It remains a representative example of how the franchise translated complex character dynamics into the concise format of collectible trading media.
