Elrond, Moon-Reader // Elrond, Moon-Reader

Elrond, Moon-Reader was released as part of the Art Series for the Magic: The Gathering set 'The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth,' which debuted in 2023. This series was designed to showcase the vivid, full-art illustrations created for the set's cards, often without the standard text boxes, effectively serving as a premium collectible print rather than a traditional game piece. The expansion itself was a landmark collaboration between Wizards of the Coast and Middle-earth Enterprises, aiming to bridge the gap between classic literary lore and modern tabletop gaming.

The artwork for this specific card features the character of Elrond as depicted in the 'Tales of Middle-earth' set, drawing inspiration from high-fantasy aesthetic traditions. While the card functions as an art print for collectors, the visual design focuses on Elrond’s role as a scholar and sage at Rivendell. The piece was well-received by fans of the franchise for its clean layout and the way it highlights the intricate details of the character's costume and setting, which might otherwise be obscured by the mechanical text on a standard play card.
