Where it came from
Heroic Intervention was released in 2022 as part of the Star Trek Commander deck for the Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond collaboration. This reprint features new thematic art that adapts the popular card's mechanical effect—granting permanents hexproof and indestructible—to represent the decisive, selfless actions often taken by Starfleet officers during critical crises in the Star Trek franchise.
The card was illustrated by Wisnu Tan, who focused on capturing the high-stakes tension characteristic of the source material. By utilizing the recognizable aesthetic of the Star Trek universe, the design aims to bridge the gap between traditional fantasy gameplay and the science fiction iconography of the series, ensuring the card feels integrated into the Commander format's strategic ecosystem while remaining distinct as a collectible crossover piece.
