Prairie Stream was originally introduced in the Battle for Zendikar expansion as part of a cycle of dual lands known as 'tango lands.' These cards were designed to represent the convergence of Zendikar’s landscape with the mana-rich leylines shifted by the Eldrazi, requiring players to control basic lands to enter the battlefield untapped. The design sought to provide color fixing in a way that rewarded strategic deck building around basic land counts.
This specific printing comes from the Bloomburrow Commander release, which re-imagined popular cards through the lens of the set's anthropomorphic woodland creature theme.
