Quest for Pure Flame

Quest for Pure Flame was originally released in 2009 as part of the Zendikar expansion for Magic: The Gathering. Designed as part of a cycle of enchantment cards known as 'quests,' it reflects the set's focus on adventure and exploration, requiring players to perform specific actions—in this case, dealing damage with creatures—to unlock a powerful global effect. The card returned to wider circulation through The List, a curated collection of reprints included in Set Boosters starting in 2020. This initiative was designed by Wizards of the Coast to reintroduce iconic or mechanically unique cards from Magic's history to modern players. By including it in The List, the designers maintained the card's availability for casual and Commander formats, where its ability to double damage output remains a notable synergy for aggressive deck strategies.
