Provenance

Where it came from

Rage Reflection first appeared in the Stronghold expansion of Magic: The Gathering in 1998. Designed by Wizards of the Coast during a period of mechanical experimentation, the card was intended to explore the unique tactical space of enchantment-based combat modification, allowing players to double the effectiveness of their attacking creatures for a single turn.

The card features artwork by Mike Dringenberg, a notable illustrator best known for his influential work on Neil Gaiman's The Sandman series. His contribution to the Stronghold set helped define the visual identity of the era, moving away from the more whimsical art of the early sets toward the darker, more visceral aesthetic that characterized late-nineties Magic expansions.
