Raging Ravine

Raging Ravine was originally introduced in the 2010 Worldwake expansion for Magic: The Gathering as part of a cycle of land cards that could animate into creatures. These cards were designed to provide players with late-game utility, offering a mana-fixing resource in the early turns that transformed into a threatening attacker during a stalemate. The card was specifically engineered to be a staple of the Jund-colored decks of the era, where its ability to grow stronger with each attack made it a formidable finisher in competitive play.

For the Ultimate Masters set, released in 2018 as a premium reprint product, the card featured updated artwork by illustrator Florian de Gesincourt. The design direction for this version focused on a more cinematic and sweeping vista, capturing the rugged, volatile landscape of a Zendikar ravine. This iteration was received positively by the collecting community for its high-quality foil treatment and its role in increasing the availability of a long-sought-after utility land for the Modern format.
