Where it came from
Refute Destiny, numbered 18 in the Reality Fracture expansion, was released during a period when the game designers sought to introduce more reactive, high-stakes mechanics to the standard play environment. The card represents a pivotal moment in the set's narrative, illustrating the tension between temporal stabilization and the chaotic forces of the expansion's titular fracture.
The card's artwork, produced by a lead illustrator for the series, was conceptualized to emphasize the fluidity of reality as it crumbles. Upon its release, it received positive feedback from the competitive community for its unique ability to disrupt established board states, eventually becoming a staple in mid-to-late game tactical decks.
