Where it came from
Rex, the Cyber-Hound, originates from the Fallout Magic: The Gathering Commander set, released in 2024. The card was designed as part of a tribute to the long-running Fallout video game series, specifically capturing the character Rex, a cybernetic dog first introduced in Fallout: New Vegas. The card functions within the game's mechanics to represent the character's unique status as a companion capable of integrating various traits from other creatures.
The card's illustration was crafted to evoke the distinct retro-futuristic aesthetic of the franchise. It emphasizes the character's robotic enhancements and his history as a loyal, albeit physically modified, canine companion. The design focuses on the intersection of biological loyalty and technological utility, aiming to provide players with a recognizable piece of Fallout lore that integrates seamlessly into the strategic depth of the tabletop card game.
