Skymarcher Aspirant was originally released in 2018 as part of the Rivals of Ixalan expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The card represents the aggressive, vampire-themed legion of the Sun Empire's rivals on the plane of Ixalan, a setting inspired by Mesoamerican history and colonial-era exploration myths.
