Where it came from
The 'U.S.S. Enterprise-C, Time-Tossed' card was released as part of the Star Trek Commander set, a collection designed to bridge the gap between classic Star Trek lore and the tactical, turn-based gameplay of card-based tabletop systems. It captures the specific temporal displacement arc of the Ambassador-class ship, an iteration of the Enterprise famously depicted in the iconic 'Yesterday's Enterprise' episode of The Next Generation.
The design of the card emphasizes the ship's tragic role in the defense of Narendra III, utilizing art intended to evoke the solemnity of its sacrifice. The illustration style follows the set's directive to provide a cinematic, high-fidelity representation of Starfleet vessels, focusing on the distinct, sweeping saucer and secondary hull lines characteristic of the Ambassador-class aesthetic. Upon its release, it was noted by players for its thematic integration of the 'time-tossed' mechanics, which allow the card to represent the vessel’s anomalous status within the game's timeline.
