27-sai no Nyuugan Diary: Boku no Miki-chan ga Nyuugan ni Natta Hanashi

27-sai no Nyuugan Diary: Boku no Miki-chan ga Nyuugan ni Natta Hanashi is a deeply personal manga-style memoir published in the mid-2000s. It chronicles the real-life journey of Miki Yakata, a 27-year-old woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer. The work was authored by her partner, documenting their shared struggle, the realities of treatment, and the emotional challenges faced by a young couple confronting a terminal or life-altering diagnosis.

The narrative is presented as a candid diary, serving both as a personal record for the couple and an educational tool for others navigating similar health crises in Japan. The art style is straightforward and intimate, designed to bridge the gap between clinical reality and the human experience. Upon its release, the volume garnered significant attention for its raw honesty and became part of a larger trend of 'illness narratives' in Japanese pop culture, helping to destigmatize discussions surrounding cancer among younger generations.
