Where it came from
7 Genme wa Himitsu is a shojo manga series created by the artist Chiba Kozue, originally serialized in the monthly magazine Sho-Comi. Chiba is well-regarded for her distinctively stylized, expressive artwork and her focus on the complex, often dramatic emotional landscapes of high school romance. The series reflects the thematic trends popular in mid-2000s shojo manga, characterized by its focus on secrets, budding relationships, and the interpersonal tension common to the genre.
The design of the volume adheres to the classic aesthetic of the Sho-Comi imprint, featuring vibrant, character-centric cover art that emphasizes the visual appeal of the protagonists. As part of a body of work meant to resonate with a young adult readership, the series was received as a typical entry in the competitive shojo market of its time, valued primarily for Chiba's signature illustrative style and the accessible, serialized narrative structure that defined her contributions to the magazine's long-standing catalog.
