Airport

Airport was created by the prolific manga pioneer Ishinomori Shoutarou, a central figure in Japanese comics known for his immense influence on the tokusatsu and shonen genres. Released as part of a period where Ishinomori explored diverse adult-oriented themes and workplace dramas beyond his signature science fiction hero epics, the volume captures the intricate, high-stakes environment of aviation management. It reflects the author's meticulous research and his signature clean, expressive linework, which allowed him to bridge the gap between technical accuracy and compelling character-driven storytelling.

The work emerged during a time when Japanese manga was increasingly branching into professional and specialized industries, moving away from purely fantastical narratives to ground stories in the mundane yet dramatic realities of the workforce. Designed to evoke the bustling and often stressful atmosphere of a major transportation hub, the illustrations focus on the human interactions behind the scenes. While it remains a niche entry compared to his massive hits like Cyborg 009 or Kamen Rider, it is highly regarded by scholars of the medium as a testament to Ishinomori's versatility as a visual narrator.
