Beyblade X & Detective Conan

The Beyblade X and Detective Conan crossover emerged as a collaborative project within the pages of Shogakukan’s manga magazines, bringing together two of Japan’s most enduring pop culture franchises. This volume serves as a promotional tie-in, leveraging the competitive, high-octane energy of Beyblade X’s mechanical spinning tops with the intellectual intrigue of Gosho Aoyama’s long-running detective series. It was designed to appeal to crossover audiences, merging the tactical gameplay of the former with the mystery-solving tropes characteristic of the latter.

Illustrated by Muno Hikaru, the work translates the distinct visual styles of both series into a singular narrative framework. The design process focused on integrating the high-speed action sequences of the Beyblade stadiums with the forensic narrative style of Conan Edogawa’s adventures. Upon release, the volume was received primarily as a collector’s novelty, intended to bridge the gap between the sports-battle genre and the mystery genre for readers invested in the Shogakukan publication ecosystem.
