Blue Jet

Blue Jet, created by mangaka Horie Taku, emerged during a period of experimentation within mid-tier manga publications. The series was conceptualized as a blend of high-concept science fiction and character-driven drama, reflecting the author's interest in mechanical design and narrative pacing. It was intended to appeal to readers looking for a more grounded, technical approach to the genre, distinguishing itself from the more fantastical hits of the era.

The design of the titular Blue Jet emphasizes sleek, functional aesthetics, mirroring the late-century fascination with aerospace and futuristic utility. Horie Taku employed clean, sharp lines to convey a sense of rapid movement and cold efficiency. Upon its release, the volume was noted by critics for its meticulous paneling and distinct visual identity, though it remained a cult title that prioritized thematic consistency over mainstream broad-market appeal.
