Boukun na Ane ni Suteraretara, Koushaku Kakka ni Hirowaremashita

Boukun na Ane ni Suteraretara, Koushaku Kakka ni Hirowaremashita, or When Discarded by My Tyrannical Sister, I Was Picked Up by His Excellency the Duke, originated as a web novel serialized on the Japanese user-generated content platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō. Written by Katayama Ayamori, the narrative belongs to the popular subgenre of Japanese fantasy light novels focusing on aristocratic drama and redemption arcs. Its transition from a digital serialization to a published print volume allowed the story to reach a broader audience, reflecting the common industry practice of sourcing commercially successful web literature for traditional book publishing.

The physical edition features character illustrations designed to emphasize the aesthetic conventions of contemporary light novel art, which typically prioritize expressive, high-detail character portraits to engage readers of the genre. As the series progressed, the design choices—ranging from the stylistic cover art to the interior layout—were curated to align with the visual expectations of the josei and shoujo demographic. Upon its release in the print market, the series was received as a standard entry within its category, appealing primarily to fans of character-driven historical fantasy and light-hearted romance.
