Where it came from
Brother & Brother, a manga series by Kajimoto Jun, emerged during a period in the late 1990s and early 2000s when the boys' love genre was rapidly expanding its narrative reach. The series was designed to explore the nuances of fraternal bonds and interpersonal relationships, utilizing a soft, emotive artistic style that became a hallmark of the creator's work within the shonen-ai subgenre.
The publication was received as a modest contribution to the burgeoning library of niche romantic manga, valued by enthusiasts for its character-driven focus rather than high-concept plot devices. Kajimoto Jun aimed to prioritize the quiet, atmospheric tension between the protagonists, providing readers with a reflective experience that stood apart from the more dramatic or explicit titles prevalent in the broader market at the time.
