Where it came from
The Carole & Tuesday manga, illustrated by Morito Yamataka, serves as a print adaptation of the original anime series created by Shinichiro Watanabe and Studio Bones. Commissioned as a companion piece to the 2019 musical science fiction series, the manga was serialized in Young Ace magazine to capture the narrative of two aspiring musicians, Carole and Tuesday, who navigate a futuristic Mars society where art is predominantly generated by artificial intelligence.
Morito Yamataka’s approach to the adaptation focused on translating the show's intricate musical atmosphere and character chemistry into a static, sequential format. By emphasizing the expressive emotional landscapes of the two protagonists, Yamataka aimed to preserve the core themes of human creativity and artistic authenticity that defined the anime. Upon release, the volume was received as a faithful expansion of the franchise, appealing to fans seeking a more intimate exploration of the duo's journey through the Martian music industry.
