Catalogue of an Exhibition of the Works of Charles Dickens January 23d to March 8th

This catalogue was published by the Grolier Club in 1913 to document their comprehensive exhibition honoring the centennial of Charles Dickens, who was born in 1812. The Grolier Club, a prestigious society for bibliophiles based in New York City, curated the display to showcase rare first editions, original manuscripts, and personal letters. It served as a definitive bibliographic guide for scholars and collectors, reflecting the early 20th-century obsession with the physical preservation of Victorian literary history.

The publication is noted for its meticulous attention to detail, characteristic of Grolier Club productions of the era. It provides a structured overview of Dickens's bibliography, categorized by his major works and supplemented by annotations regarding the publication history and print variants of the time. The work was well-received by the academic and collecting communities as a benchmark for bibliographical standards, remaining a sought-after reference for those tracing the provenance of Dickens’s primary texts.
