Chichimusume ni Narimashita (kari)

Chichimusume ni Narimashita (kari), or 'I Became a Father-Daughter (Temporary)', is a light novel series written by Souda Sui and illustrated by various artists depending on the specific volume releases. Emerging from the crowded landscape of Japanese web-novel-to-print adaptations, the series explores themes of unconventional family dynamics and the complexities of gender identity through a fantasy-leaning lens. It reflects a growing trend in modern light novels that prioritize character-driven social narratives over traditional high-fantasy combat tropes.

The design and artistic direction of the series were crafted to align with contemporary light novel aesthetics, often employing soft, expressive character designs to contrast with the often poignant subject matter. While the series maintains a niche following, it is recognized for its willingness to engage with the 'temporary' or 'provisional' nature of its central conceit, inviting readers to reflect on how personal identity is constructed when one is thrust into an unexpected domestic role.
