Christliches Kunstblatt für Kirche, Schule u. Haus

The Christliches Kunstblatt für Kirche, Schule u. Haus was established in the mid-19th century as a significant German periodical dedicated to the integration of religious art within Protestant life. It emerged during a period of rising interest in the intersection of aesthetics and faith, aiming to provide clergy, educators, and families with guidance on high-quality visual materials that could foster devotion and cultural literacy in both domestic and public settings.

The publication was highly regarded for its editorial focus on reconciling traditional ecclesiastical aesthetics with the modern sensibilities of the era. By commissioning scholarly articles and high-quality engravings, the contributors sought to elevate the standard of religious art in Protestant communities. It served as a vital record of the period's theological debates concerning the role of imagery, and its influence persisted through the late 19th and early 20th centuries as a standard reference for religious iconography.
