Where it came from
Contact x Contact by Dorokawa Megumi emerged within the niche experimental manga scene of the early 2000s, a period defined by a surge in works exploring themes of digital alienation and human disconnection. This volume serves as a standalone entry that focuses on the interplay between physical space and telecommunications, reflecting the anxieties of an era transitioning into a hyper-connected society. It was conceived as an aesthetic exploration of silence and syntax, utilizing sparse dialogue to emphasize the visual weight of the panels.
Dorokawa Megumi, known for a minimalist and atmospheric illustrative style, designed the book with a deliberate focus on negative space and monochromatic composition. The work was generally received as a stylistic departure from mainstream genre fiction, garnering praise among avant-garde manga enthusiasts for its introspective pace and lack of conventional resolution. It remains a notable example of the artist's commitment to visual narrative over traditional plot structures.
