Croket! Black Label

Croket! Black Label is a continuation and thematic shift of the original Croket! series created by Manavu Kashimoto. While the initial series was serialized in CoroCoro Comic and targeted at a younger demographic, Black Label was launched to capture the audience that grew up with the original adventures, offering a darker, more mature narrative tone that reflects the passage of time for both the characters and the readership.

Kashimoto designed Black Label to subvert the traditional shonen tropes of his earlier work, introducing more complex political stakes and grittier character motivations. The art style retains his signature expressive character designs but incorporates heavier shadows and more cinematic paneling to underscore the serious shift in the series' world-building and its exploration of the consequences of the characters' earlier quests.
