Cruise -Doctor Kohei Yamada's Voyage-

Cruise -Doctor Kohei Yamada's Voyage- is a manga series authored by Masao Yajima with illustration by Hiroyuki Kikuchi. The narrative centers on the professional and personal life of Dr. Kohei Yamada, a physician navigating the complexities of medical practice while operating within the specific setting of his titular cruise. It serves as an exploration of human drama, mortality, and the ethical dilemmas encountered by a doctor in an isolated, transient environment.

The series emerged from the tradition of Japanese seinen medical dramas that emphasize patient-doctor relationships and character-driven storytelling over high-octane action. Yajima, known for his work on The Drops of God, brought a character-focused approach to this title, aiming to portray the medical profession with a blend of professional gravity and intimate human interaction. Upon its release, it was noted for its grounded tone and the precise, descriptive linework of Kikuchi, which effectively captured the confined yet expansive atmosphere of life at sea.
