Deutsche Zeitung: 1885,11/12

The Deutsche Zeitung was a prominent German political newspaper published in Vienna during the late 19th century. This specific volume, covering the months of November and December 1885, captures a period of intense political activity in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, characterized by the growth of German nationalism and shifting parliamentary dynamics. It served as a vital record for contemporaries interested in the intricacies of Central European political discourse and the shifting cultural identity of the German-speaking population within the Habsburg realm.

The publication was associated with the German-national political movement, reflecting the editorial stance of influential figures within that ideological sphere. The design followed the traditional journalistic standards of the era, utilizing dense, columned typesetting and Fraktur typography to convey a sense of authority and permanence. Like many newspapers of the time, it was preserved by institutional archives—in this instance, the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek—to document the evolution of German-language journalism and the sociopolitical climate that preceded the major conflicts of the early 20th century.
