Die Kette: Eine Sammlung freimaurerischer Toaste, Ansprachen und Abhandlungen von Theodor Döring. [Auf dem Umschlag]: (Manuskript für Freimaurer.).

Die Kette was authored by Theodor Döring as a curated compendium of Masonic toasts, speeches, and treatises intended specifically for members of the fraternity. Published in the late 19th century, the volume served as a practical manual for ritualistic expression and the formal exchange of ideas within the lodge setting. By marking the text as a manuscript for Masons, Döring sought to provide a structured reference that supported the intellectual and ceremonial life of his peers.

The work reflects the earnest, didactic style typical of German Masonic literature from the era, emphasizing brotherhood, moral philosophy, and the preservation of traditional rhetoric. As an internal resource, it was not intended for wide commercial circulation but rather functioned as a foundational text for personal development and group cohesion. The legacy of the work remains tied to the history of private lodge collections and the scholarly interests of 19th-century Freemasonry in Central Europe.
