Die Sammlungen des historischen Vereins für Unterfranken und Aschaffenburg zu Würzburg

This volume serves as a comprehensive inventory and historical documentation for the collections held by the Historischer Verein für Unterfranken und Aschaffenburg, an association established in the 19th century to preserve the regional heritage of Lower Franconia. The publication reflects the late 19th and early 20th-century trend of local historical societies curating and documenting their diverse holdings, ranging from archaeological artifacts to medieval manuscripts, to foster regional identity and scholarly research.

The documentation was compiled by members of the historical association, who sought to categorize a vast array of antiquities and historical documents gathered in Würzburg. The design and layout follow the standard academic cataloging practices of the era, focusing on clarity and utility for researchers. Upon its release, it was well-received by regional scholars and libraries for providing a systematic overview of the association's contributions to the preservation of Bavarian cultural history.
