Dragon Half

Dragon Half was written and illustrated by Ryuusuke Mita and originally serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Dragon Magazine starting in 1988. Emerging during the height of Japan's fantasy-comedy boom, the series was designed as a lighthearted parody of traditional role-playing game tropes, focusing on the adventures of Mink, a half-human, half-dragon girl. Mita’s art style, characterized by exaggerated expressions and high-energy physical comedy, was instrumental in establishing the series' identity as a chaotic, self-aware romp through fantasy clichés.

The series became a cult classic due to its rapid-fire humor and irreverent tone, which prioritized comedic timing over epic storytelling. Its popularity in the early 1990s led to a two-episode original video animation adaptation that is frequently cited for its frantic pacing and comedic sensibilities.
