Enzai de Tougoku desu tte! Chikarou no Jibakurei ni Karada o Yuzutte, Gyakuten o Neratta Koushaku Reijou no Ohanashi.

This title, which translates roughly to 'You say it's a false charge? I'll lend my body to the dungeon's earthbound spirit and turn the tables, says the Duke's daughter,' is a light novel series that leans heavily into the popular 'villainess' subgenre of Japanese web literature. It originated as a serialized story on the platform Shousetsuka ni Narou, where authors frequently experiment with trope-heavy subversions of fantasy tropes. The narrative follows a protagonist who, having been falsely accused and imprisoned, strikes a supernatural bargain to secure her vindication.

The physical light novel adaptation features character designs and illustrations by Mikoto, whose work captures the refined aesthetic typical of the genre. The series is part of a broader wave of light novels that focus on political intrigue and domestic drama set within aristocratic fantasy frameworks. Like many works in this category, its transition from digital serialization to print reflects the strong reader demand for stories that blend gothic atmosphere with the cathartic trope of a misunderstood noblewoman reclaiming her status.
