This narrative content originates from an Interlude featured in the mobile role-playing game Fate/Grand Order. These interludes are designed as side stories that delve into the backstories and character growth of specific Servants, functioning as essential world-building components within the broader Nasuverse. In the case of Christopher Columbus, the narrative serves to explore the controversial historical figure's interpretation through the lens of the game's unique mythological and historical blending.

The scenario was authored by Takenaka Hideo, who sought to frame the character's ambitions and moral ambiguity within the game's high-fantasy setting. The narrative was crafted to lean into the subversive portrayals typical of the franchise, aiming to elicit strong reactions from players by challenging traditional historical tropes. Upon release, it was met with significant discussion within the player community, particularly regarding the depiction of historical figures and the thematic exploration of colonial conquest.
