Fate/Samurai Remnant

Fate/Samurai Remnant was developed by Koei Tecmo Games in collaboration with Type-Moon and Aniplex, released in 2023 as an action role-playing game set in the Edo period of Japan. The project originated from a desire to expand the sprawling Fate franchise into a distinct historical fantasy setting, focusing on a unique Holy Grail War known as the Waxing Moon Ritual. The narrative was overseen by the Fate series creators, aiming to blend authentic period details with the franchise's signature myth-based character designs.

The game's aesthetic direction was guided by character designer Rei Wataru, who crafted a look that bridges the gap between historical realism and the high-fantasy stylization typical of the series. Upon its release, the title received positive attention for its integration of Musou-style combat mechanics with deep narrative exploration.
