Fěnsuì ba, Zhǔjué Guānghuán!

Fěnsuì ba, Zhǔjué Guānghuán!, translated as Smash the Protagonist's Halo!, originated as a popular web novel within the Chinese danmei landscape before being adapted into a manhua series illustrated by Stubborn Tobi. The series emerged during a period of significant growth for subversion-themed literature, where authors began challenging the traditional tropes of the 'gong' and 'shou' archetypes common in internet fiction. By focusing on a protagonist forced to dismantle the artificial perfection of a lead character, the work serves as a meta-commentary on the structural predictability of serialized storytelling.

The visual design by Stubborn Tobi is noted for its adherence to modern manhua aesthetics, balancing clean, expressive character lines with the high-drama compositions required by the genre's intense emotional beats. The artistic direction emphasizes the contrast between the cynical, self-aware nature of the narrative and the polished, idealized imagery of the characters, mirroring the story's central conflict regarding performative virtue. Upon its digital serialization and subsequent collection into volumes, the series was well-received by fans of satirical fantasy for its humor and subversion of established narrative power dynamics.
