Four-way Stop

Four-way Stop, created by the collaborative artist group known as Team Manna, emerged within the independent manga scene as an experimental work. The project was conceived during a period of rising interest in minimalist, slice-of-life storytelling, with the authors aiming to capture the static, rhythmic nature of urban intersections. By focusing on a single recurring setting, the work explores how minor interactions and the passage of time create narrative momentum within a confined, repetitive space.

The design of the volume reflects a deliberate choice toward understated aesthetic choices, favoring clean linework and negative space to mirror the architectural rigidity of its subject matter. Critics and readers noted the work for its meditative pacing and architectural focus, viewing it as a departure from the high-action trends often found in contemporary serialized manga. While niche, it remains a respected example of atmospheric, place-based storytelling.
