Fuga: Melodies of Steel was released by CyberConnect2 in 2021 as the inaugural title in their self-published 'Trilogy of Vengeance' series. Developed to commemorate the company's 25th anniversary, the game explores dark, melancholic themes centered on a group of children forced to operate a massive tank to rescue their families during a fictionalized industrial war. The title serves as a creative return to the company's roots in turn-based tactical combat while emphasizing moral weight and the permanent consequences of player choices.

The character design and overall aesthetic were crafted to contrast the innocence of the protagonists against the grim, machinery-heavy setting of the war. Adachi Takafumi, an artist known for his work in the shonen manga space, provided the visual direction and accompanying manga adaptation. His contribution was intended to bridge the gap between traditional narrative media and interactive gameplay, ensuring that the emotional stakes of the children’s journey remained central to the player's experience.
