Fumio Hisamatsu Masterpiece Collection: Silver 77

Silver 77 is a notable work by Fumio Hisamatsu, a manga artist recognized for his contribution to the adventure and science fiction genres during the mid-twentieth century. This volume belongs to a collection dedicated to showcasing his legacy, preserving narratives that were originally serialized during an era when Japanese manga was rapidly evolving in both visual complexity and thematic depth. The series reflects Hisamatsu’s signature kinetic style, which often prioritized dynamic paneling and high-stakes storytelling to engage the young audiences of the period.

Hisamatsu’s design philosophy was deeply influenced by the post-war shift toward accessible, episodic storytelling. In this volume, the artwork leans into the bold, illustrative sensibilities typical of the Shonen genre in the 1960s and 1970s. The work is esteemed by collectors not just for the narrative content, but as a historical artifact of Hisamatsu’s technical proficiency, providing insight into the creative standards and stylistic movements that shaped the foundational aesthetics of modern manga.
